Adapter designed to connect BBC micro:bit directly to a standard 2.54 mm pitch breadboard. It breaks out the microcontroller pins to two 11-pin headers, making it easier to build and test circuits using jumper wires and prototyping components. Installing the BBC micro:bit and adapter requires no soldering or tools. Kitronik 5664
The adapter enables BBC micro:bit to be used with a standard 2.54 mm pitch breadboard. BBC micro:bit slots into the edge connector located on the top of the PCB, while two 11-pin headers allow the adapter to be inserted directly into the breadboard. The board is designed to fit across the middle slot of a breadboard, in a similar way to through-hole integrated circuits.
BBC micro:bit connections are broken out through 2 x 11 pins, while further connections to circuits on the breadboard can be made using M-F jumper wires. The adapter can be used to build prototypes with sensors, LEDs, buttons and other electronic components without soldering. Kitronik 5664 is also included in the Kitronik 5666 Discovery Kit, where it is used to complete five introductory electronics and programming experiments.
The edge connector has contacts on only one side, so the BBC micro:bit must be inserted in the correct orientation. The side of the microcontroller with the LED matrix should face the same side as the 3 V pin marking on the adapter. Inserting the BBC micro:bit in the opposite orientation will prevent the connection from working.
