Pololu 5344 is used to control bipolar stepper motors in applications requiring current regulation and microstepping support. The module is based on the A5984 IC from Allegro MicroSystems and supports operation with 5V or 3.3V logic via the STEP/DIR interface. The driver supports full-step, half-step, and microstepping modes up to 1/16, with a maximum output current of up to 1.5A at 5V logic or up to 1A at 3.3V logic.

Motor current adjustment is implemented using an onboard trimmer potentiometer, allowing operating parameters to be matched to the motor characteristics. The carrier-format board without soldered connectors allows flexible mounting in target applications, including direct wire soldering or installation of custom connectors. Motor power is supplied from a separate voltage source, independent of the logic supply. When operating at higher output currents, adequate heat dissipation from the IC is recommended.
