Single-channel bipolar stepper motor driver based on the MP6603 chip, supporting microstepping down to 1/8 step and operating with a motor supply voltage of 8-55 V. The module can deliver approximately 2 A continuous current per phase without additional cooling and up to 4 A peak, features adjustable current limiting via a potentiometer, and offers an interface compatible in many applications with popular A4988 carrier boards. Version without soldered header pins, intended for custom connector installation. Pololu 5690
The Pololu MP6603 Stepper Motor Driver Carrier is designed for controlling a single bipolar stepper motor. The module is based on the MP6603 dual full-bridge driver from Monolithic Power Systems, allowing motor control in full-step, half-step, 1/4-step, and 1/8-step modes. The STEP/DIR control interface simplifies integration with microcontrollers and CNC controllers, and the pinout and control method are compatible in many applications with A4988 driver carriers, making it easier to upgrade existing designs.

The driver operates with a motor supply voltage of 8 V to 55 V and can deliver approximately 2 A continuous current per phase without a heat sink or forced airflow, depending on supply voltage and cooling conditions. The maximum peak current per phase is up to 4 A. The current limit can be set using an onboard trimmer potentiometer, allowing the driver to be tuned to the motor specifications and enabling the use of supply voltages higher than the motor’s rated voltage to achieve higher step rates.
The module includes protection against undervoltage, overvoltage, overcurrent, and overheating. An integrated voltage regulator eliminates the need for a separate logic power supply. The driver works directly with 3.3 V and 5 V logic systems, while the SLEEP, ENBL, M1, and M2 inputs allow configuration of operating modes and microstepping resolution. This version does not include soldered header pins, making it suitable for projects requiring custom mounting or connector options.
