Environmental sensor breakout combining the STCC4 CO2 sensor with the SHT41 temperature and humidity sensor. The STCC4 measures CO2 from 400 to 5000ppm using thermal-conductivity sensing, while the SHT41 provides up to ±1.8%RH humidity accuracy and ±0.2°C temperature accuracy. Adafruit 6478
The environmental sensor breakout Adafruit STCC4 + SHT41 combines the STCC4 device for direct carbon dioxide measurement with an SHT41 temperature and relative humidity sensor. The STCC4 uses a thermal-conductivity measurement principle that evaluates heat transfer inside a small sensing cavity. The module is primarily intended for indoor air-quality monitoring, ventilation systems, building automation and environmental data logging.
The CO2 measurement range is 400–5000ppm, with an accuracy of ±(100ppm + 10% of reading). The STCC4 requires periodic exposure to fresh outdoor air for automatic baseline calibration, with the manufacturer recommending exposure approximately once per week. Its measurement principle is optimized for typical indoor atmospheric composition and is not intended for precision gas analysis in unusual gas mixtures.
The SHT41 measures relative humidity over a 0–100%RH range and temperature from -40 to 125°C. Typical relative humidity accuracy reaches ±1.8%RH from 25 to 75%RH, while typical temperature accuracy reaches ±0.2°C from 0 to 75°C. The SHT41 is connected through the STCC4 secondary I2C interface, allowing the host system to retrieve environmental measurements through a single device interface.
Communication is provided through I2C. The default STCC4 address is 0x64 and can be changed to 0x65. The breakout operates from 3.3–5V and includes STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors for solderless connection. Arduino and CircuitPython/Python libraries are available.
