Description
The Adafruit Feather RP2040 SCORPIO is a board featuring the RP2040 microcontroller designed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The chip has two ARM Cortex M0+ cores running at up to 133 MHz and 264 kB of RAM. The microcontroller is not equipped with flash memory, but there is an external memory of 8 MB on the board connected via the QSPI interface.
On the board, in addition to the RP2040 chip and flash memory, the user will find a 3.3V voltage stabilizer, Boot and Reset buttons, NeoPixel LEDs and RGB LEDs, a USB type C connector for powering and programming the module, and 21 GPIO outputs, where peripherals such as four 12-bit ADC inputs, 16 PWM outputs, two I2C, SPI and UART interfaces are brought out.
The module is designed to control NeoPixel (WS2812) RGB LED strips. It has 8 PWM outputs connected to DMA so that the process of controlling NeoPixel LEDs puts very little load on the microcontroller core. The board has a rich set of other interfaces, which makes it successfully applicable to other projects as well.
The platform supports the popular MicroPython and C/C++ programming languages. Programs can be loaded into the memory via USB using the built-in bootloader or an external programmer via the SWD interface. Full documentation and usage examples are available on the product page.
