Official Raspberry Pi expansion board designed in collaboration with LEGO® Education. It was created to make it easier to control LEGO motors and sensors using RPi mini computers. The HAT is equipped with four connectors for LEGO Technic motors and sensors from the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime series.
The LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime 45678 set and the SPIKE™ Prime Expansion 45681 set, available separately from LEGO Education retailers, comes with a collection of useful elements supported by Build HAT. The LEGO® Maker Plate allows you to easily connect Raspberry Pi computers to the LEGO® construction system. Connected compatible LEGO® devices can be easily controlled in Python.
Build HAT is powered by 8V (requires an official Raspberry Pi 8V 6A power supply or 7.5V battery pack). The motor and sensors connected to the module are powered directly by the expansion board (they do not require additional power). Full documentation is available on the product page.

This add-on board enables a Raspberry Pi B+, Pi A+, Pi 2 or Pi 3 to drive a pair of brushed DC motors. Its dual MC33926 motor drivers operate from 5 V to 28 V and can deliver a continuous 3 A (5 A peak) per motor. The default pin mappings make it easy to get started using our provided software, but the board also exposes most of the driver chips’ I/O pins for more specialized applications.

This add-on board makes it easy to control two high-power DC motors with a Raspberry Pi. Its twin discrete MOSFET H-bridges support a wide 6.5 V to 36 Voperating range and are efficient enough to deliver a continuous 14 A without a heat sink. The drivers offer basic current limiting functionality, and they accept ultrasonic PWM frequencies for quieter operation.
