Description
The module is equipped with an AS5600 magnetic encoder with a resolution of 12-bit. It allows for non-contact measurement of the angle of rotation. The module has an analog / PWM output and an I2C interface. By default, the output is between 0 and 360 degrees. It is also possible to define a smaller output range by programming the zero angle (start position) and the maximum angle (stop position). The module is equipped with a connector compatible with the Grove standard.

The AS5600 is based on the Hall effect. It can work as a magnetic potentiometer or magnetic encoder. Compared to a traditional potentiometer / encoder, the AS5600 has numerous advantages: high precision, non-contact measurement and no limitation of the angle of rotation. These benefits make it perfect for angle measurements such as robotic arm, closed-loop motor control, and machine axis positioning.
The AS5600 has specific requirements for the measured magnetic field. Use a magnet approximately the size of the chip. The module should be measured as close to the magnetic field as possible and the center of the AS5600 sensor should be aligned with the center of the magnetic field. The vertical distance should be between 0.5 mm and 3 mm.
