Far-Infrared Thermal Camera 8–14 μm for USB-C Smartphones, 80×62 px Resolution, 45° FOV, Measurement Range -40°C to 400°C, Aluminum Housing, Plug and Play. Waveshare Thermal-45 USB Camera (B)
The Thermal-45 USB Camera (B) enables non-contact temperature measurement and real-time thermal imaging using a smartphone equipped with a USB-C port. The device utilizes hybrid microbolometer and thermopile pixel technology to convert far-infrared radiation in the 8–14 μm wavelength range into a detailed surface temperature map of observed objects.

The Thermal-45 USB Camera (B) is enclosed in a compact aluminum alloy housing. The ribbed enclosure design increases the heat dissipation surface area while improving mechanical durability during service and industrial use. The integrated USB-C connector enables direct connection to a smartphone without additional cables, ensuring a stable and secure mechanical interface.
The centrally positioned optical module is responsible for detecting infrared radiation in the 8–14 μm wavelength range. The 80 × 62 pixel array converts the IR radiation distribution into a surface temperature map of observed objects, enabling non-contact temperature measurement within a range of -40°C to 400°C. The shutterless design allows continuous operation and thermal image generation at up to 25 FPS.
The camera operates with a dedicated application for smartphones and Windows PCs, enabling real-time thermal image viewing and advanced temperature analysis. The user interface allows selection of multiple color palettes (including Iron, Rainbow, Magma, and Inferno), adjustment of temperature range, dynamic image scaling, alarm threshold configuration, and real-time display of minimum and maximum temperature values within the frame.
The application also supports screenshot capture, video recording, fever detection mode, and precise spot temperature measurement with accurate point-based readings. These features make the device suitable for technical diagnostics, electrical installation servicing, HVAC inspection, and a wide range of industrial and maintenance applications.

The camera is available in two field-of-view variants: 45° and 90°, allowing the device to be tailored to specific application requirements. The 45° version provides a more focused frame with higher detail density, making it ideal for spot inspections, electronic component diagnostics, and analysis of small objects.
The 90° version offers a wide-angle view, enabling observation of a larger area within a single frame. This makes it particularly suitable for room monitoring, installation inspection, security applications, and rapid situational assessment in the field. The choice of FOV variant allows the camera to be optimized for precise measurement tasks and specific operational scenarios.
The camera supports a thermal video stream of up to 25 frames per second, ensuring smooth and stable visualization of temperature changes in real time. The higher frame rate enables more accurate observation of dynamic thermal phenomena such as heating of electronic components, heat flow behavior, or movement of people within the camera’s field of view.
Thanks to its high refresh rate, the camera is well suited for:
Smooth thermal imaging facilitates temperature trend analysis and video recording for diagnostic and documentation purposes. This feature is particularly important in industrial, maintenance, and monitoring applications where rapid response to temperature changes is critical..

The Thermal-45 USB Camera (B) is a compact, mobile plug-and-play thermal imaging camera that combines non-contact temperature measurement, smooth 25 FPS thermal imaging, and a durable aluminum housing. It serves as a practical diagnostic tool for service, industrial, and mobile applications.
