Description
The Adafruit bq25185 is a versatile charging board designed to conveniently power and charge your electronic projects from multiple sources—USB, DC power supply, or even a solar panel. With support for various battery chemistries (LiPoly, LiIon, and LiFePO4) and the ability to select the charging current (250 mA, 500 mA, or 1 A), this board is perfect for both simple and advanced mobile applications. It features a USB Type-C input as well as dedicated connectors for DC or solar power (5 to 18 V). When powered by a solar panel, the chip automatically adjusts the current draw to optimize solar panel efficiency—no need for extra capacitors or complex MPPT circuits.
Thanks to its built-in power path management system, the board prioritizes external power sources while protecting the battery from unnecessary charge/discharge cycles. Additionally, the board includes three status LEDs (charging, fault, power OK), a connection point for a thermistor to monitor battery temperature, the option to switch battery chemistry voltage (for LiFePO4), and jumpers to configure the charging current. The LOAD output provides regulated voltage up to 4.5 V, ensuring stable power to peripherals. This board is a complete, ready-to-use solution for battery-powered projects.
