A versatile module that allows you to control higher voltage devices such as 12V LED strips while simultaneously powering a microcontroller from 3.3V. The module integrates an LMR14203 converter and an N-channel MOSFET (PSMN7R0-100BS), allowing you to power the board at up to 12V and drive loads up to 10A, with additional protection features and LED indicators, making it ideal for projects requiring efficient power control. SparkFun COM-23979
The MOSFET switch is a versatile module ideal for projects requiring control of higher voltage devices, such as 12V LED strips, while simultaneously powering a microcontroller. If you want to avoid using multiple power supplies and microcontrollers, this module will be a perfect solution. It allows you to power the board with up to 12V and control a load up to 10A, while simultaneously providing a stable 3.3V to your control circuit. The module combines two circuits on a single board: an LMR14203 converter configured for 3.3V output and an N-channel MOSFET (PSMN7R0-100BS) used as a switch. There is also a flyback diode on the load side to protect against voltage spikes from devices generating reverse electromotive force (EMF). The load is activated via the CTL pin.
The module features various connectors (DC jack, female connector, and terminals) to connect the power source to the microcontroller and load. Pins for VCC, 3.3V, CTL, and GND are also exposed for manual mounting preferences. The board has two LEDs (PWR_LED and ON_LED) that indicate the presence of 3.3V and load power. Additionally, there are jumpers on the back of the board to disable the LEDs and a MEAS PTH jumper for precise current measurement in the system.
