A module with a human presence and movement sensor, which is based on the STHS34PF80 infrared sensor from STMicroelectronics. Its operation is based on the use of infrared waves with lengths from 5µm to 20µm. The sensor is designed to precisely measure the radiation of objects and monitor the ambient temperature within an 80° field of view. Its advanced design includes a matrix of MOS thermal transistors, the segments of which differ in terms of exposure to infrared radiation. This allows the sensor to precisely detect movement and presence, eliminating the effects of self-heating. The above-mentioned functions make it ideal for use in alarm systems, lighting or for indoor occupancy monitoring.
The sensor is characterized by high sensitivity and low energy consumption. One of the advantages of the sensor is its resistance to various lighting conditions and insensitivity to visible light, thanks to an optical filter in the range of 5 to 20 µm. The sensor offers various data transfer rates and the possibility of a single measurement, available via the I2C/SPI interface. The board has a compact size and is equipped with two I2C Qwiic connectors, which facilitates integration with other devices.
