Description

Panasonic's passive infrared (PIR) sensor is optimized to detect small movements, making it an ideal choice for battery-powered applications thanks to its very low standby current consumption of only 1 µA. It is an excellent solution for detecting movement in a small area around the sensor. Thanks to its low profile, the sensor saves space in projects with limited space. It consists of a lens that creates different detection zones, an optical filter that blocks non-IR light, pyroelectric sensing elements, electromagnetic shielding that protects all electronics, and an impedance transducer that generates an electrical signal. It offers a digital output signal in 32 zones with a detection distance of up to 5 m and a detection area of 90° x 90°.
