Description

Digital Sandbox (DS) is an educational platform designed for learning programming. It is based on an ATmega microcontroller connected to basic elements such as light and temperature sensors, LEDs, switches, buttons and a microphone. A series of guides has been prepared for the set to facilitate the start for beginners (in English):

  • Circuit 1: Exploring Blink
  • Circuit 2: Multi-Blink
  • Circuit 3: Dimming (the Hard Way)
  • Circuit 4: Dimming (the Easy Way)
  • Circuit 5: Color Mixing
  • Circuit 6: Number Storage with Variables
  • Circuit 7: If This, Then That
  • Circuit 8: The Reaction Tester
  • Circuit 9: Serial Calculator
  • Circuit 10: Do the Analog Slide
  • Circuit 11: Automatic Night Light
  • Circuit 12: Thermal Alert!
  • Circuit 13: Sound Detecting

Experiments can also be tested on a convenient online simulator.

The set connects to the computer via a miniUSB cable. Digital Sandbox can be programmed using the popular Arduino IDE or its "block" counterpart called Ardublock. When using ArduBlock, you can perform all experiments using a simple graphical interface instead of writing code, which can be useful for younger users.

In the kit, the user will find a color guide that includes step-by-step instructions on how to connect each circuit with the attached parts and a complete sample code. The kit does not require soldering and is recommended for beginners from 8 years of age.
