Power switch that allows you to control your system's power on and off with simple button presses, with the ability to force shutdown after 10 seconds. It features a durable control circuit, LEDs, a self-resetting fuse, and offers low quiescent current, making it ideal for energy-efficient projects. SparkFun PRT-26993
SparkFun Soft Power Switch is a passive power switch with software control and feedback, functioning similarly to the power button on a laptop. A simple press turns the system on, and another press, with the appropriate microcontroller intervention, can turn the system off. In case of issues, holding the button for about 10 seconds will force a power-off. This is an ideal solution for projects requiring a reliable power button. The module features two JST 2mm connectors. The switch is extremely reliable and energy-efficient, based on a durable and fully digital IC from Texas Instruments. A built-in fuse automatically resets, protecting against overcurrent (2A), while the LED indicators show the operating status, and the extremely low standby current (<1µA) makes the device highly energy-efficient. To turn the system on and off, simply connect the PUSH and OFF pins to the microcontroller, which will monitor button presses and initiate a controlled shutdown sequence.
Additionally, you can adjust the on and off times of the device to create the ideal user experience. With this solution, you have full control over the system’s power, ensuring both energy savings and safety in case of malfunction.
