Description

The D42V55F8 voltage regulator is a high-performance synchronous buck (step-down) converter designed to step down input voltages of up to 60 V to a stable 8.4 V. It features low no-load current consumption (<0.2 mA), making it energy-efficient even in standby mode. Its compact dimensions allow installation in space-constrained environments. The D42V55F8 is an ideal solution for microprocessor systems, IoT devices, automation, and hobby projects where stable 8.4 V power with high efficiency and safe operation is required.

Thanks to switching technology (SMPS, DC-DC), the converter offers significantly higher efficiency (up to 95%) compared to traditional linear regulators, minimizing energy losses and heat generation. This model can deliver a continuous output current of from 3.5 A to 7 A at low input voltages, providing stable power even for demanding circuits. The unit features reverse voltage protection, overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown, ensuring high reliability in harsh operating conditions. The soft-start function limits inrush current and smoothly ramps up the voltage at startup, protecting connected devices.

The converter provides a set of pins for flexible integration into a power system. VOUT supplies the regulated 8.4 V output, while GND serves as the common ground reference. VIN is used for supplying the input voltage, with the minimum operating voltage depending on the output voltage and dropout. The VRP pin outputs the input voltage after reverse voltage protection — it can be used as an output to power other devices or as an alternative input bypassing the protection. Additionally, a PG (Power Good) pin — an open-drain output indicating proper output voltage — and an EN pin are available, allowing the converter to be enabled or disabled, including in low-power mode.
