Makerbase MKS SERVO42D RS485 MB
NEMA17 stepper motor driver with closed-loop feedback control - Makerbase MKS SERVO42D RS485 MB uses an N32L403 microcontroller with a Cortex-M4 core and a 14-bit magnetic encoder to control the drive. The system supports open-loop and closed-loop control as well as FOC mode, along with speed, relative position and absolute position control. The microstepping range is from 1 to 256, with a default setting of 16, while the maximum input pulse frequency reaches 160 kHz.

The RS485 version uses the MAX13487E transceiver and supports the MODBUS-RTU protocol. Addressing includes one broadcast address and up to 255 slave addresses. The driver also supports synchronous operation of multiple motors, acceleration and deceleration curves, and a limit switch for returning to the zero position. Torque, velocity and position parameters are updated at a frequency of 20 kHz.

The system operates at a voltage from 12 V to 24 V and an operating current from 0 to 3000 mA. The power stage uses AP4008QD MOSFETs rated at 40 V / 20 A. The driver is designed for NEMA17 stepper motor drives used in applications including 3D printers and CNC machines where position control with feedback is required. The aluminum enclosure works with a thermal pad to dissipate heat from the power components.
