LTE CAT-1 HAT communication module with integrated GNSS receiver, based on the SimCom A7670E-FASE modem, designed for Raspberry Pi. Enables data transmission in LTE and GSM networks and precise GPS positioning in IoT and industrial applications. KAmod LTE CAT1-GNSS
KAmod LTE CAT1-GNSS serves as a HAT-type communication module designed for wireless data transmission and GNSS satellite positioning in projects based on the Raspberry Pi platform and compatible single-board computers. The design is based exclusively on the SimCom A7670E-FASE modem, supporting the LTE CAT-1 standard, 2G GSM networks, and an integrated GNSS receiver.
The modem provides data transmission using LTE-FDD, GPRS, EDGE, and GSM technologies, offering speeds of up to 10 Mb/s (DL) and 5 Mb/s (UL) in LTE CAT-1 networks. The integrated GNSS receiver supporting GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou systems enables precise positioning, making the module suitable for location-based systems, telemetry, vehicle monitoring, and IoT applications requiring position and time synchronization.
Support for network protocols such as TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, FTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS, and DNS, along with security mechanisms SSL and TLS, allows integration with server systems, cloud services, and IoT platforms using MQTT. Modem control is performed using AT commands transmitted via the 3.3 V UART interface or the USB interface, which can operate as an AT serial port and a network interface in ECM or RNDIS mode.
The board includes a Micro SIM card slot, U.FL antenna connectors for LTE and GNSS, complete power supply circuitry, and a fully routed 40-pin GPIO header. Power is supplied with 5 V via the GPIO header or USB-C port, with a recommended supply current of up to 2 A. The module is intended for prototyping, educational, and industrial applications requiring stable LTE CAT-1 connectivity and GNSS positioning capabilities.
