Doppler radar module with a 24GHz transceiver, which allows for precise distance measurement, detection of the direction of movement and measurement of the speed of a moving object. The module uses the physical Doppler effect by analyzing the frequencies of the waves generated and received by the device. The board has an interface for connecting a programmer, so advanced users can adjust the operation of the radar to their own needs. The module communicates via the UART interface and is powered by 5 V. It will be used in projects related to security systems, and its operation is not affected by unfavorable factors such as high temperature, rain and dust accumulation. Full documentation of the module with examples of use is available on the product page.

Doppler radar works by sending a beam of electromagnetic radiation waves from a transmitter (TX antenna) at a precise frequency to a moving object. When the electromagnetic radiation wave comes into contact with the object, it returns towards the receiver (RX antenna). When the wave was reflected from a moving object, it now has a different frequency to the original it was emitting. A change in this frequency can be used to calculate the speed of a moving object.

This is a simple to use motion sensor. Power it up and wait 1-2 seconds for the sensor to get a snapshot of the still room. This unit works great from 5 to 12V (datasheet shows 12V). You can also install a jumper wire past the 5V regulator on board to make this unit work at 3.3V. Sensor uses 1.6mA@3.3V. SEN-13285
