Description

The Optical Tracking Odometry Sensor is a compact module that utilizes the PAA5160E1 sensor from PixArt Imaging Inc., providing accurate motion data in two axes on various hard surfaces. The sensor is equipped with a built-in 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a microcontroller that executes real-time sensor fusion and tracking algorithms. The board features a compact design, and user-friendly libraries facilitate integration, allowing quick setup with the module.

The PAA5160E1 chip provides exceptional tracking performance, with a typical error rate of 3% to 5% in the operating range of 10 mm to 27 mm. With calibration in the sensor firmware, this error can be significantly reduced to below 1% in ideal conditions. The sensor handles high-speed motion tracking well, achieving speeds of up to 2.5 meters per second, making it an excellent choice for navigation in warehouse robots, commercial robots, and other fast applications. Thanks to Qwiic compatibility, the SparkFun sensor integrates seamlessly with robotic projects. The user-friendly interface eliminates complicated configurations and simplifies connections with other Qwiic-supporting components. The included Arduino and Python libraries, along with the built-in tracking algorithm in the firmware, accelerate the development process, allowing developers to focus on creating innovative robot features.
