Description
The A121 Range Sensor is a 60 GHz mmWave radar module based on the Acconeer A121 sensor utilizing Pulsed Coherent Radar (PCR) technology. The module enables detection of human presence, motion, and micro-motion within a defined detection area, as well as high-resolution distance measurement. Parameters such as detection range and sensitivity are configurable, allowing adaptation to specific application requirements.
The board integrates an STM32L431CBT6 microcontroller with an Arm Cortex-M4 core operating up to 80 MHz, equipped with 128 kB Flash and 64 kB RAM. This allows local radar data processing or communication with an external host controller via a register-based protocol. User applications can be deployed using the Acconeer RSS environment.
Compact dimensions of 39 x 39 mm and an optimized antenna structure provide stable detection performance and high signal gain. The design allows installation behind plastic or glass without additional openings in the enclosure, simplifying integration into end devices.
Communication interfaces include USB, UART, I2C, and GPIO. The radar module is suitable for presence detection systems, proximity sensing, contactless triggering, vital signs monitoring, building automation, and IoT or industrial applications requiring reliable contactless detection.
