Description

8 x 8 LED matrix module from the M5Stack Chain series, featuring 64 individually controllable white LEDs. The M5Stack Chain Mono (U217) uses an STM32G031G8U6 microcontroller and supports individual pixel control, batch pixel writing and full-screen refresh using an 8-byte frame buffer. Built-in functions include ASCII character generation, text scrolling for strings of up to 256 characters per module, brightness adjustment and screen rotation by 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°.

Displaying messages and symbols - enables the presentation of characters, simple icons and device status information.

Creating pixel animations - allows moving patterns and lighting effects to be designed using independent LED control.

Device status indication - enables alarms, activity and operating states to be displayed through illuminated pixel patterns.

Decorative lighting installations - allow the matrix to be used for desktop ambient lighting, compact information signs and interactive projects.

Communication with the module is handled through a UART interface operating at 115200 bps, using a serial protocol that supports daisy-chaining multiple devices.

Two HY2.0-4P connectors serve as the Chain-Bus input and output, allowing additional Chain series modules to be connected.

The module requires a 5 V DC power supply. Standby current consumption is 8.13 mA, increasing to 22.29 mA when all LEDs are illuminated at maximum brightness. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C. The compact enclosure, measuring 24 x 24 x 16 mm, allows installation in small electronic projects. A Chain Bridge is also included.
