The Artillery Sidewinder X2 is a 3D printer using FFF/FDM printing technology. It features a very large working area of 300 x 300 x 400 mm. It is equipped with a number of features that make it easy to use, including a filament sensor, automatic table levelling, the ability to resume printing after a loss of power, and a convenient touch panel screen. The main board is equipped with "silent" stepper motor drivers and a powerful power supply.
The automatic table levelling system means that precise positioning of the print platform does not take long. A built-in sensor measures the distance to the table in several places and, thanks to a dynamic compensation process, allows the device to be easily prepared for work. The built-in filament sensor, on the other hand, avoids the unpleasant situation when a printout fails because the spool of material runs out. The printer detects when it is running out of filament and alerts the user.
A very useful feature of the printer is the ability to resume printing after a loss of power. This is particularly important for larger prints where the time exceeds several hours. Losing power at the end of the process often means having to start the printout all over again. The Sidewinder X2 allows you to resume an interrupted print, saving time and filament.
The design uses a double Z-axis system, which consists of two trapezoidal screws with modified nuts. The Direct Drive Titan extruder is responsible for moving the filament, where the material is transported directly to the heating block, which gives good results especially with flexible filaments. These solutions ensure stable operation, which translates into better print quality.
The printer is controlled by a main board based on a 32-bit microcontroller, which guarantees efficient operation as well as high configuration flexibility and easy expansion. Combined with a set of low-noise stepper motor controllers, it provides convenience of use and does not generate nuisance noise. To operate the printer, the user has a convenient screen with a touch panel.
The construction of the printer is made of metal components and the electronic part is hidden under the base of the printer. The modularity makes the whole look aesthetically pleasing, and the assembly of the printer is easy and quick. Filament is placed on a specially prepared mount, and replacement is simple and intuitive. The printer supports a wide range of filaments: ABS, PLA, PVA or HIPS. It works with most popular software. The process of sending files for printing can take place on an SD card, via a USB cable or on a memory stick.
