A system reminiscent of the Raspberry Pi mini-computer
There is an Ethernet port, a USB connector and a microSD card slot. Attention is drawn to the presence of a traditional power socket, very many pin outs, as well as a connector and lithium-ion battery charging system. However, there is no strong graphic layout and HDMI output. In the Premium version, we can count on the possibility of powering from the microUSB port, serial port and TFT display connector. The manufacturer used Texas Instruments AM3352 microprocessors with clock speeds of 600 MHz or AM3354 with 1GHz clock speed and graphical acceleration support. The core of this processor is ARM Cortex-A8.
A large number of derived pins makes sense after carefully reviewing the chilliboard.org website. The manufacturer plans to offer peripheral systems to users attached to the main PCB. For now, the "Sandwiches for chiliboard" section remains empty, although 17 such projects are being prepared. On the days there will be a 5 "display with a touch panel, followed by solutions developing chiliBoard with additional communication interfaces such as GSM, UMTS, WIFI, BT, as well as GPS / GNSS receivers.
What distinguishes Chiliboard significantly from Raspberry Pi is the fact that it is addressed to people looking for a platform to develop a product on a massive scale, rather for industrial applications, and not for amateur electronics, intending to develop a single project. This is indicated by the suggested possibility of easy conversion to mass production using "chiliSOM" - the producer is guided by the slogan "Design with chiliBoard, produce with chilisom". SOM is a system-on-module, or a single, highly integrated system with the properties of an ordinary computer, often with a standard connector (eg SODIMM) allowing it to be connected to a general purpose rail. In the case of chiliSOM, the modules were closed in a PCB-soldered LCC housing. Dedication of the plate is also confirmed by the fact that the AM335x chips used in chiliboard have the possibility of in the service of industrial EtherCAT and PROFIBUS protocols. It is the chiliSOM solution that ensures the final product price competitiveness, as well as the greatest flexibility associated with the choice of hardware configuration.
Of course, the chiliboard computer can also be used for a single project. The manufacturer, unlike other similar solutions, guarantees the consistency of configuration and the correspondingly long product life. Computers are available from the warehouse with the possibility of implementation on the next business day.
