Description

Intel's RealSense LiDAR L515 is a camera designed for applications that require high-resolution, high-accuracy depth data, such as volumetric measurement and 3D scanning. It is designed for indoor use, uses LiDAR depth technology and laser scanning technology. The camera provides an output resolution of 1024 x 768 (XGA) with 23.6 million depth points per second, or 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution with 9.2 million depth points per second. Both resolutions operate at 30 fps with a 70 x 55° (± 2°) field of view.

When working with a 1/6" RGB sensor, the L515 has a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30fps. The lens itself offers an f/2 aperture and a fixed focal length of 1.88mm. Works with Windows 10 or Ubuntu 16.xx / 18.04 LTS via USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C interface via the included USB Type-C cable. A tripod is also included.

Light Detection and Ranging is a remote sensing technology that measures distance to objects and targets using a combination of laser light and receivers. It uses an IR laser, MEMS, IR photodiode, RGB imager, MEMS controller and vision ASIC. MEMS is used to scan the IR laser beam across the entire field of view (FOV). The L515 vision ASIC optical system processes data from the reflected beam captured by a photodiode and derives a depth point representing the exact distance of a specific point in the scene from the camera. Aggregating the depth points will generate point cloud depth data representing the entire scene.

The Intel RealSense LiDAR L515 camera provides precise volumetric measurements of objects. It can be used in logistics on a mobile device or as part of an inventory management system. It can also be used in the field of robotics and 3D scanning.

The camera is supported by Intel's dedicated open source SDK 2.0, which offers support for popular programming languages. All devices in the Intel RealSense series use the same tool, making the transition from another platform easy and intuitive.
