Compact 9DOF IMU sensor with accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, supporting advanced data fusion with Arm Cortex M0 processor and CEVA SH-2 software, offering I²C, SPI and UART-RVC interfaces and a wide range of functions for precise motion and orientation analysis. Adafruit 4754
The Adafruit BNO085 module is an advanced 9DOF IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that integrates an accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer to provide precise orientation and motion data. With an embedded Arm Cortex M0 processor and CEVA SH-2 software, the sensor performs data fusion and provides ready-made information, eliminating the need for user-implemented algorithms. The module is backward compatible with the BNO080 version, but eliminates the issues with SPI interface support.
The sensor supports various data formats, including acceleration vector, angular velocity, magnetic field, orientation vector (quaternion), and linear and gravitational acceleration. It also supports additional functions such as motion detection, step detection, activity recognition, and motion stability classification.
Thanks to I²C (STEMMA QT / Qwiic) and SPI interfaces, the module is easy to integrate with microcontrollers, including Arduino and Raspberry Pi. For easy programming, Adafruit provides libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython, as well as a UART-RVC mode that allows simple serial communication, ideal for mobile robots, for example.
