A compact and efficient step-up voltage regulator that provides a stable 12 V output voltage. The device belongs to the U3V9Fx family and operates in SMPS technology, which allows for typical efficiency in the range of 70–95%. With a switching frequency of about 1.6 MHz under heavy load and a power-saving mode at lower currents, it offers high application flexibility. The system can limit peak input current to 2.2 A, and under typical conditions it can operate stably with continuous input current up to 900 mA. This makes it an excellent choice for applications that require a stable 12 V supply from low-voltage sources such as Li-Ion batteries, cells, or other mobile power supplies.
The VIN input requires a voltage of at least 2.6 V and not exceeding 20 V, with values above 12 V being passed directly to the output. This may pose a risk to the connected circuit if it is not designed to handle voltages higher than 12 V. The VOUT output provides a regulated 12 V, and the soft-start function gradually raises it, reducing inrush current.
The small size of the module makes it suitable both for prototyping and integration into space-constrained projects. The regulator is equipped with several protections, including over-temperature shutdown, peak current limiting, and soft-start functionality, which increase its reliability and safe operation. However, it does not include short-circuit protection or reverse polarity protection, so in some applications it is recommended to use additional protective modules. Thanks to its simplicity, high efficiency, and versatility, it is well-suited for use in IoT power systems, portable electronics, robotics, and consumer devices.
