Precision Hall effect current sensor offering galvanic isolation, wide bandwidth of 150 kHz and the ability to measure AC and DC current with very low power loss. Thanks to differential measurement and immunity to magnetic interference, it is perfect for applications requiring accurate current monitoring, such as power supplies, converters or motor control systems. Pololu 5293
The ACS37220 Hall Effect Current Sensor is a current sensing module based on the Hall effect, offering electrical isolation and a wide bandwidth of 150 kHz. Thanks to its very low conductive path resistance, it ensures minimal power loss and high measurement efficiency. The sensor can be placed anywhere in the circuit and used in applications requiring galvanic isolation. With the use of differential Hall sensing, the device is resistant to external magnetic field interference, increasing measurement accuracy. The sensor provides an analog voltage proportional to the current value, enabling measurements of both DC and AC current. The module operates with a supply voltage from 4.5 V to 5.5 V, and its output is ratiometric, meaning its midpoint value is VCC/2 and changes by 13.3 mV × (VCC/3.3 V) per amp of current flow. A short response time makes the sensor ideal for fast measurement systems and real-time current monitoring.
For proper operation, the sensor requires five connections: current input (IP+ and IP−), logic power supply (VCC and GND), and sensor output (VIOUT). The module uses a multilayer PCB for high durability and reliability. Large mounting holes allow easy connection via wires or screw terminals. Alternatively, 2.54 mm pitch holes are available, although they are not recommended for high current. With high accuracy, versatile mounting options, and strong resistance to interference, the sensor is suitable for use in power systems, power converters, battery monitoring circuits, and motor control systems.
