Description

The LILYGO T-Halow V1.0 development board is designed for building IoT devices requiring long-range wireless communication. It is based on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller and a Wi-Fi HaLow module compliant with the IEEE 802.11ah standard, operating in the sub-GHz frequency band. The board also integrates an RJ45 Ethernet port, an OV2640 / OV5640 camera connector, a microSD card slot, an 18650 battery holder, 16 MB Flash memory, and 8 MB PSRAM.

Comprehensive onboard features and interfaces

The board combines the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, a Wi-Fi HaLow radio module, an RJ45 Ethernet interface, and a camera connector compatible with OV2640 and OV5640 image sensors. Additional onboard features include a microSD card slot, an 18650 battery holder, a USB Type-C port for programming and power, an STA/AP mode selection switch, and a Pair button for simplified pairing between devices.

Example Wi-Fi HaLow network deployment

The diagram illustrates an example of using T-Halow modules to create wireless bridges between Ethernet networks and Wi-Fi HaLow communication. Devices can operate as Access Points (AP) or Stations (STA), enabling wireless data transmission between remote locations. Such a solution is suitable for industrial automation, monitoring systems, telemetry, smart buildings, and IoT installations where communication over significantly longer distances than conventional 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is required.

The manufacturer provides example projects, firmware, and source code to simplify development with the module. The repository includes examples of AP and STA configurations, Wi-Fi HaLow communication, and Ethernet firmware. As a result, the board can be quickly adapted for use in industrial automation, monitoring, telemetry, smart building systems, and industrial IoT applications.

The open hardware design, comprehensive documentation, and available software examples simplify customization for specific project requirements. The board can serve as a platform for both simple prototypes and more advanced embedded systems developed in later stages of a project.
