Description

Formaldehyde sensor (HCHO) dedicated to measuring ambient air quality. It differs from most gas sensors on the market because it does not provide a specific gas concentration value and is instead used to detect whether the surrounding environment exceeds a set concentration threshold. It operates over a wide voltage range from 5V to 24V and generates a high and low level signal. The sensor is equipped with an LED that makes it easy to see its status, making it user-friendly. When the sensor detects a gas concentration above the threshold, it generates a high state and the LED lights up. Otherwise, when the concentration drops below the threshold, it generates a low condition and the LED turns off.

Formaldehyde, with the chemical formula CH2O or HCHO, is a colorless gas with a strong, pungent odor. It is soluble in alcohols and ethers. Acute formaldehyde poisoning is a systemic disease characterized mainly by damage to the eyes and respiratory system caused by exposure to high concentrations of formaldehyde vapor. When the concentration of formaldehyde in the air reaches 0.08-0.09 mg/m3, children may experience slight wheezing. At a level of 0.1 mg/m3, discomfort and unpleasant odor may occur. At 0.5 mg/m3, eye irritation and tearing may occur. At a concentration of 0.6 mg/m3 it may cause pain or discomfort in the throat. Higher concentrations can lead to nausea, vomiting, cough, chest tightness, asthma and even pulmonary edema. A concentration of 30 mg/m3 may be fatal.

The formaldehyde sensor is a useful tool for monitoring and preventing excessive concentrations of formaldehyde in the environment, helping to protect the health and safety of users.
