Module with a CO2 sensor based on the advanced XENSIV PAS CO2 system from Infineon. Enables precise measurement of CO2 concentration in direct parts per million (ppm) format via I2C, UART and PWM interfaces. PAS CO2 technology uses a photoacoustic spectroscopy system that combines narrowband infrared light with a high-sensitivity microphone inside the measurement chamber. This enables the measurement of CO2 concentrations ranging from 0 to 32,000 ppm with the best accuracy of ±(30ppm + 3%) when reading between 400 ppm and 5,000 ppm. Additionally, the built-in microcontroller converts the data into direct ppm reading via any of the three communication interfaces.
The infrared emitter in the PAS CO2 sensor requires a 12 V power supply. Therefore, the AP3012 amplification circuit with a set of buffer capacitors is placed on the board, providing 12 V power from 3.3 V via the Qwiic connection. As a result, the boards are slightly larger than standard Qwiic modules. The PAS CO2 interrupt pin has unique functions, enabling not only signaling of alarm thresholds, data readiness or sensor occupancy statuses, but also configuration as an early notification of the start of measurement during continuous reading.
