Carbon monoxide sensor breakout featuring an MQ7 sensing element, an ATtiny404 microcontroller and an I2C interface. Two Qwiic connectors enable solderless connection to a compatible controller board, while onboard switches allow the I2C address to be changed. The module operates from a 3.3V supply and detects the presence of CO and changes in its level in the air. Soldered 333121
The device MQ7 from Soldered is a carbon monoxide sensor breakout designed to detect the presence of CO and monitor changes in its level in the air. Its semiconductor sensing element changes resistance when exposed to gas, producing a signal that varies with concentration. The module can be used in environmental monitoring projects and systems that indicate rising carbon monoxide levels.
The onboard ATtiny404 microcontroller reads the sensor signal and transfers data to the controller board over I2C. Two Qwiic connectors, compatible with easyC and STEMMA QT, enable solderless connection and allow additional devices to share the same bus. The default I2C address is 0x30, and onboard switches allow an address to be selected within the 0x30–0x37 range.
The manufacturer provides an Arduino library with reading and calibration examples. CO concentration is estimated in software using the sensor's response characteristics, so readings should be treated as approximate. Before taking measurements, the sensor requires preheating and calibration in clean air according to the manufacturer's documentation. The board operates from a 3.3V supply, and four mounting holes allow it to be secured inside an enclosure or to a supporting structure.
