

The Adafruit OPT4048 module is a precision color sensor based on the Texas Instruments OPT4048 chip. It enables accurate measurement of light intensity (in lux) and color components in the CIE 1931 XYZ color space. The sensor offers high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range, allowing reliable readings in both low and high light conditions (from 2.15 mlux to 144 klux). It features 12 configurable conversion times from 600 μs to 800 ms per channel, making it ideal for applications requiring both speed and high precision. An interrupt output is also available for low/high threshold detection.
With an I2C interface and STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors, the module easily integrates with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32) and single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi).
