Motor driver for BBC micro:bit designed to control two DC motors simultaneously in both directions with adjustable speed. It breaks out pins P0, P1, P2, 3.3 V and GND to large pads suitable for crocodile clips and banana plugs and also provides a ZIP LED output. Power from 3 AA batteries supplies both the motor driver and the connected BBC micro:bit. Kitronik 5655
Dual DC motor driver for BBC micro:bit allows independent control of the direction and speed of each motor, making it suitable for building simple vehicles and other robotics projects. Large connection pads support crocodile clips and banana plugs without soldering. The pad spacing helps reduce the risk of accidentally shorting adjacent connections.
In addition to the motor outputs, the board breaks out pins P0, P1 and P2 as well as the 3.3 V and GND lines corresponding to the main BBC micro:bit pads. Battery voltage, an additional GND connection and an output for addressable ZIP LEDs are also available. Pins P0, P1 and P2 can be used with Kitronik :CITY products such as STOP:bit, LAMP:bit and ACCESS:bit. Status LEDs help with checking program operation and connections. Indicators show board power, the states of pins P0, P1 and P2 and the activity of both motor channels. The motor output LEDs also indicate direction - green for forward and red for reverse. This makes it possible to test parts of the program before connecting motors or external devices.

Power is supplied by 3 AA batteries with a total voltage of 4.5 V. The board generates a regulated 3.3 V supply for the BBC micro:bit, so the microcontroller does not require a separate power source. If the BBC micro:bit is powered only through USB and no batteries are installed in the motor driver, no voltage is available at the board's 3.3 V output. Programming can be carried out in Microsoft MakeCode using the Kitronik extension with dedicated blocks for controlling motors and connected ZIP LEDs.
