Description
Camera module based on Omnivision OV5640 with a resolution of 5 MPx with JPEG output. The image sensor is a low-voltage, efficient, 1/4-inch CMOS matrix that provides full functionality using OmniBSI technology. It allows the acquisition of full-frame, sub-sampled, windowed or freely scaled 8-bit / 10-bit images in a variety of formats via the Serial Camera Control Bus (SCCB) interface.
The OV5640 has an image matrix capable of running at up to 15 frames per second (fps) at 5MP resolution with full user control over image quality, formatting and data output. All required image processing functions, including exposure control, gamma, white balance, color saturation, hue control, pixel defect removal, noise removal, etc., are programmable via the SCCB interface or the built-in microcontroller. OV5640 also includes a compression engine to increase processing power. In addition, Omnivision's image sensors use technology to improve the image quality by reducing or eliminating common light sources / electrical contamination of the image, such as constant noise, smearing, etc., in order to obtain a clear, fully stable, color image.
The module can be used with ArduCAM USB Shield or USB3.0 Camera Shield and other platforms, such as the Freescale i.MX6 development board.
