Description
Waveshare 33042 is a PCIe expansion board designed for use with Raspberry Pi 5. The solution adds a wired 2.5G Ethernet interface, providing higher bandwidth compared to standard Gigabit Ethernet. The integrated RTL8125 controller supports data rates of 10 / 100 / 1000 / 2500 Mb/s.
The board uses the PCIe x1 Gen2 interface available on Raspberry Pi 5 and connects to the host via a 16-pin PCIe cable. Operation is natively supported under Raspberry Pi OS without the need for additional driver installation, enabling quick setup in plug and play mode.
An onboard RJ45 2.5G Ethernet port features LED indicators for link status and data activity. Power is supplied by default directly through the PCIe bus. The included transparent acrylic mounting plate enables side mounting of the module, saving space above the Raspberry Pi 5 and facilitating integration in enclosures and compact builds.
The solution targets networking applications, home servers, NAS systems, edge computing, and projects requiring increased bandwidth and stable wired connectivity. The product is offered by Waveshare, a supplier of accessories for embedded systems.
