Description

Waveshare ESP32-S3 RLCD 4.2″ without battery version is an AIoT development board based on the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, designed for projects requiring low power consumption, wireless communication, and voice interaction. The integrated 4.2″ reflective RLCD display provides an e-paper-like reading experience while offering faster refresh performance.

The RLCD display with a resolution of 300 x 400 px operates in reflective mode and does not require a backlight, using ambient light instead. This solution is well suited for bright environments and low-power applications. The board uses an SPI interface to drive the display and is equipped with the ST7305 display driver.

The module is built around a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor running at up to 240 MHz and supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE connectivity. Integrated audio circuits, a dual-microphone array, and a speaker enable AI Voice Interaction applications, including speech recognition and near-field and far-field voice interaction.

                             

Onboard components include an SHTC3 temperature and humidity sensor, a PCF85063 RTC chip, and a TF card slot for storage expansion. Power management and charging circuits are present on the board; however, in this version, the 18650 lithium battery is not included. Power is supplied via the USB-C port or an external power source.

The board supports ESP-IDF and Arduino IDE environments and is intended for prototyping, learning, IoT projects, smart desktop devices, electronic calendars, and control systems.
