The HMC6343 is a fully integrated, high-quality electronic compass module that calculates and provides direction with an accuracy of a few degrees. It is tilt-compensated and calibrated to operate in the presence of magnetic interference. With this board, using the HMC6343 module is exceptionally easy. Simply connect the power supply and the I2C interfaces to the microcontroller to enable the module to receive commands and transmit data to the user.
The HMC6343 integrated circuit combines 3-axis magnetoresistive sensors, 3-axis MEMS accelerometers, analog and digital circuitry, a microprocessor, and built-in software algorithms necessary for direction calculations. The module requires a power supply voltage of 3.3V with a current consumption of 4.5mA and can measure and calculate direction every 200ms (5Hz).
