A temperature sensor based on the DS18B20 chip. It is encapsulated in a waterproof measuring probe. The module can be supplied with 3.3 to 5 V and measures temperatures from -55 to 125 °C. Communication with the sensor is via a digital 1-wire interface. The sensor can return temperature as a 9-bit or even 12-bit value. Each sensor has a unique 64-bit ID, allowing multiple chips to be connected in a single line. It will find use in applications that include environmental control, indoor temperature sensing of buildings, equipment or machinery, and process monitoring and control.
