The module enables micro:bit, Raspberry Pi Pico, RP2040-based boards, and other controllers to connect to Wi-Fi networks and online services. Communication with the host board is handled through UART, while the pre-installed ESP-AT firmware allows network functions to be controlled using AT commands. Cytron GRV-WIFI-8266
Device Cytron GRV-WIFI-8266 uses an Ai-Thinker ESP-12F module based on the ESP8266 chip. Support for IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi in the 2.4 GHz band allows projects to transmit data to IoT services, monitoring systems, and web applications. The module can be used with platforms such as ThingSpeak, Blynk, and Telegram through libraries and extensions provided by the manufacturer.
The Grove connector provides RX, TX, VCC, and GND lines, allowing the module to be connected to compatible boards without additional soldering. UART communication operates at a default speed of 115200 bit/s. All ESP-12F pins are also available through 2.54 mm solder pads. Reset and Boot buttons allow the module to be restarted and switched into bootloader mode during firmware updates. The module can be powered from 3 V to 6 V, while the input and output lines operate at 3.3 V logic levels.
