Makerbase MKS ESC_BT V1.0 wireless communication module for VESC motor controllers. Features a Nordic nRF51822QFAC microcontroller and Bluetooth communication in the 2.4 GHz band, enabling a connection between a VESC controller and the VESC Tool application on Android devices. Supports parameter configuration, drive monitoring, motor control and VESC controller firmware updates. Operates at a supply voltage of 3.3 V to 5 V DC and uses a UART interface with a transmission speed of 115200 bit/s. The PCB measures 27 x 13 x 1.6 mm. The kit includes the module with a connection cable and antenna. Makerbase MKS ESC_BT V1.0
The Makerbase MKS ESC_BT V1.0 wireless communication module is designed for VESC series motor controllers used in electric skateboards, scooters, electric bicycles and mobile robots. The module enables Bluetooth communication between a VESC controller and an Android mobile device. Using the VESC Tool application, users can configure controller parameters, monitor drive operation, control motor functions and perform firmware updates supported by the software.
The module uses a Nordic nRF51822QFAC microcontroller supporting Bluetooth Low Energy communication in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Its design is based on the nrf51_vesc project, developed for wireless data exchange with VESC controllers. Communication with the motor controller takes place through a UART interface operating at 115200 bit/s, while the connection to the mobile device is wireless. The module provides access to drive settings and diagnostic data without requiring a USB cable for each connection.

The MKS ESC_BT V1.0 requires a supply voltage of 3.3 V to 5 V DC. Its four-pin connector provides GND, VTX, VRX and VIN signals for power supply and serial communication with the VESC controller. Before installation, verify the pinout and ensure compatibility between the supply voltages and logic levels of both devices. The module features an antenna connected to the PCB via a coaxial cable, allowing it to be positioned away from components that could reduce wireless communication range.
The PCB measures 27 x 13 x 1.6 mm, allowing installation inside a motor controller enclosure or drive system housing. The VESC Tool application supports BLE connection establishment, monitoring of operating parameters such as motor speed, current and power, and configuration of motor control settings. Available functions depend on the software version and the capabilities of the connected VESC controller. The manufacturer specifies compatibility with Android mobile devices.
