The Adafruit OV5640 camera module is a high-quality camera, equipped with a 5 MP sensor and a lens with a wide viewing angle of 72 degrees with autofocus function. It offers a complete electronic system necessary for integration in various projects. The low-distortion lens is perfect for security and monitoring applications, but also for robotics.
Compared to existing camera modules, this board breaks standards while offering compatibility with existing solutions. It has a standard 2x9 pin connector, but also an additional connector that allows easy connection to prototype boards. The module allows you to select an external or internal clock with a frequency of 24 MHz ("XCLK"). This feature not only saves GPIO pins, but also ensures a stable 24MHz signal even if the microcontroller is unable to generate it.
The board is also equipped with a camera cooling area and numerous holes for effective heat transfer. This is especially useful during long-term use, preventing overheating and maintaining optimal image performance. For greater flexibility, the module has an optional VMotor 3.3V power connector on DATA1, dedicated to autofocus camera modules. Additionally, the 3.3V good power LED on the back of the module can be turned off when not in use.
Whether you're working on surveillance projects, panoramic imaging, or other creative applications, the Adafruit OV5640 72-degree camera module offers advanced features, flexibility, and reliable performance for any field.
Attention!
To use the autofocus feature, upload a new binary via I2C and short the VM jumper on the back of the camera module, which will provide 3.3V power to DATA1. The autofocus system is controlled using I2C commands to start the autofocus procedure and then check whether focus has been completed.Data sheet
