Arducam 1.58MP IMX296 Mono Global Shutter is an advanced camera module designed for vision systems based on the Raspberry Pi platform. The device uses a high-quality monochrome Sony IMX296 sensor with a resolution of 1.58 MP, equipped with Global Shutter technology. This ensures that all pixels are captured simultaneously, eliminating the motion distortions typical of rolling shutter cameras when recording fast-moving objects. The camera supports image capture at a resolution of 1440 × 1080 at 60 fps, making it well suited for motion analysis systems, industrial automation, and AI projects.
The module features an M12 lens with a wide 96° field of view, providing a large observation area while maintaining low optical distortion. The design with manual focus adjustment allows the user to adapt the settings to specific working conditions such as macro photography or low-light environments. This enables precise focus tuning and optimal image contrast. The camera is also sensitive to infrared light (NoIR), allowing it to be used in night-vision monitoring systems or projects that rely on IR illumination.
The device is designed as a native module for Raspberry Pi, meaning it does not require additional drivers and is fully compatible with libcamera tools and the Picamera2 library. The kit includes two flexible FPC cables that allow connection to both older and newer camera connector versions.
