Benewake TFmini-i is a laser distance sensor with a measuring range from 0.1 m to 12 m. It uses a wavelength of 850 nm and the Time of Flight (ToF) technology, which means that the sensor periodically transmits a beam of infrared rays that reflect away from the subject. It then measures the time of flight from the phase difference and obtains the range between the device and the detected object.
The sensor has been optimized for industrial applications. It offers a wide range of supply voltage from 7 to 30 V, protection against reverse polarity, housing ensuring the level of protection IP65 and industrial RS485 and CAN communication interfaces. The sensor can work with a very high resolution of 1 cm and an accuracy of ± 6 cm and the frequency of measurements up to 100 Hz. In addition, it has a very narrow measuring angle FoV 2°, which allows for precise point measurements.
TFmini-i is used in robotics as a measurement sensor in drones and mobile robots, but also in industry, e.g. as a safety sensor.
