The Adafruit 6357 AS5600 is designed for contactless measurement of rotational angle based on a magnetic field generated by an external magnet. The module detects angular position without a mechanical connection to a shaft, eliminating wear, friction and electrical noise typical of classic potentiometers and mechanical encoders. This solution is suitable for rotary encoders, control knobs, joysticks and positioning systems.

The sensor communicates via the I2C bus and works with microcontrollers and single-board computers that support this interface. The AS5600 provides full 360° angle measurement with a resolution of 0.1° and an accuracy of approximately 0.4°. Optimal operation is achieved with a neodymium magnet placed coaxially above the sensor at a short distance.
STEMMA QT connectors, compatible with the Qwiic system, allow quick, solderless connection and easy daisy-chaining with other I2C modules. The board is supplied fully assembled and includes a pin header for optional soldering and breadboard use.
