An H-bridge driver that provides bidirectional control of a high-power DC motor with a voltage range of 5-60 V and a continuous current of up to 11 A. The module supports PWM signals up to 100 kHz, features a current measurement (CS) output based on the ACS711 sensor, and features reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. It is compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic, enabling easy integration with popular microcontroller platforms. Ideal for robotics, automation, and DIY projects requiring high performance and reliability. Pololu 2993
The Pololu H2 High-Power Motor Driver 36v11 CS is a high-performance DC motor driver in the form of an H-bridge built with MOSFET transistors. It enables bidirectional control of a high-power motor while maintaining a compact size. It supports a wide supply voltage range from 5 V to 60 V, making it suitable for various applications in robotics, automation, and DIY projects. Thanks to its highly efficient design, the driver can deliver up to 11 A of continuous current without the need for a heatsink.
VIN – motor power supply 5–60 V | PWMB – PWM input for channel B |
VM – power output after protection | SLP – sleep input (active low) |
+ , − – pads for a filtering capacitor | FLT – fault indicator |
VCC – logic supply 3.0–5.5 V | CS – current sensor output |
GND – system ground | OUTA – motor output A |
PWMA – PWM input for channel A | OUTB – motor output B |
The module offers a simple control interface – only two PWM signals are needed to control the motor’s direction and speed. It features an ACS711 current sensor that provides direct motor current measurement on the CS pin, making it easier to monitor load and protect against overcurrent conditions. The driver supports PWM frequencies up to 100 kHz, with 20 kHz recommended for quiet motor operation. Integrated protection mechanisms, such as reverse voltage protection, built-in short-circuit detection, and undervoltage shutdown, enhance safety. However, the module lacks thermal protection, so monitoring temperature and current in high-load applications is recommended.
Thanks to its design, the driver is highly versatile and can be used in projects powered by Li-Ion batteries as well as stationary installations. The manufacturer recommends a maximum nominal battery voltage of 36 V, as higher values may generate dangerous voltage spikes leading to driver damage. The module is compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic, ensuring easy integration with popular microcontroller platforms such as Arduino, STM32, and Raspberry Pi. This makes it an ideal solution for projects requiring a compact, efficient, and easy-to-use high-power DC motor driver.
