ACS37042 Compact Carrier is a module based on an Allegro current sensor, using Hall-effect technology and providing galvanic isolation of the measurement. The device features a very low current path resistance, which minimizes energy loss and ensures high accuracy for both DC and AC current measurement. The analog output provides a wide bandwidth of 150 kHz, enabling fast and precise current sensing in dynamic systems. The sensor response time is less than 5 µs, making it ideal for applications that require quick reaction.
The module has five essential pins: current inputs IP+ and IP-, logic supply VDD and GND, and signal output VOUT. Supply voltage should be connected to the VDD and GND pads marked on the underside of the board. At the VOUT output, an analog signal with a resting value of 2.5 V is generated, which shifts proportionally to the input current. A positive current increases the output voltage, while a negative current decreases it.
The board can be integrated into the current path in various ways, depending on the application. In typical high-current applications, it is possible to solder 10 AWG wires directly to the mounting holes. These holes are also compatible with M3.5 holes as well as screw terminals with 3.5 mm or 5 mm pitch, making it easier to mount the module in both prototype and final installations. Alternatively, goldpin connectors may be used, although they are not recommended for high current values.
The sensor provides integrated temperature compensation, which improves accuracy across the full operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C, in compliance with automotive standards. The circuit is non-ratiometric, meaning its zero point and sensitivity are independent of supply voltage fluctuations, ensuring noise immunity. Thanks to its compact size, it is perfectly suited for use in space-constrained projects.
