The device Rotary Encoder Board With Qwiic by Soldered is a rotary encoder module designed for convenient detection of knob rotation and direction in microcontroller projects. The board uses an ALPS EC11E1534408 rotary encoder and an onboard ATtiny404 microcontroller, which processes the signals generated by the encoder and makes them easily accessible through the I2C bus.
Communication is handled through I2C, while two Qwiic / easyC / STEMMA QT connectors provide quick solderless connection and allow the board to be chained with other devices on the same bus. Hardware address switches allow the I2C address to be configured from 0x30 to 0x37, making it possible to use multiple modules on a single I2C bus.

The module operates from a 3.3V supply. The board measures 38 × 38mm, features four mounting holes suitable for M3 screws and 1.5mm header pin holes. The design is compatible with the Qwiic ecosystem and is open source, with hardware design files provided by the manufacturer.
The encoder can be used as a control element in user interfaces, value adjustment controls, control panels and audio projects. Soldered provides an Arduino library that simplifies reading the encoder state and direction of rotation over I2C.
