The Waveshare 31958 development board is designed for smartwatch, wearable and compact HMI projects requiring high computing performance, touch input support and multimedia integration. The ESP32-S3R8 microcontroller with a dual-core 32-bit LX7 architecture and clock frequency up to 240 MHz enables the implementation of communication, interactive and data-processing applications in wearable devices.


The board integrates a 2.06 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 410 x 502, supporting 16.7 million colors. The display is driven by the CO5300 controller using the QSPI interface, while touch input is handled by the FT3168 controller via I2C, allowing efficient use of the microcontroller GPIO resources.
The board is equipped with a QMI8658 6-axis IMU for motion and orientation detection and a PCF85063 RTC with battery backup support, suitable for applications requiring precise timekeeping. The onboard ES8311 audio codec and ES7210 circuit enable audio input and output, while the dual digital microphone supports sound capture in voice-based applications.
Power management is handled by the AXP2101 IC, supporting battery charging, monitoring and multiple voltage outputs. The ESP32-S3-Touch-AMOLED-2.06-EN version does not include an MX1.25 lithium battery in the kit, allowing flexible power source selection. The enclosure with detachable watch straps provides a smartwatch-like form factor and supports ergonomic testing of prototypes.
