Communication module with the system SIM7000G designed for minicomputers Raspberry Pi. Adds NB-IoT, eMTC, EDGE, GPRS and GNSS support. Waveshare SIM7000G NB-IoT HAT (EN)
SIM7000G NB-IoT HAT is a module that extends the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi with communication via GSM / GPRS, NB-IoT cellular networks and GNSS positioning within the GPS, BeiDou and GLONASS systems. The applied SIM7000EG chip by Simcompa allows you to make and receive calls, send and receive SMS messages and use wireless Internet. The module is controlled by AT commands through the UART interface (by default 9600 b/s).
NB-IoT HAT has many communication functions: NB-IoT, CAT-M, EDGE, GPRS and GNSS. NB-IoT (NarrowBand-Internet of Things) is a growing IoT communication technology evolving from LTE (4G), the advantages of which are low power, low cost, wide coverage. They are suitable for applications such as smart devices, remote control, tracking, remote monitoring, e-health, mobile POS terminals, and bike sharing. GSM / GPRS and EDGE are traditional 2G/2.5G technologies that allow you to send SMS or make other wireless connections.
The module connects to the minicomputer using a standard 40-pin connector. The product Wiki page offers extensive support in the form of libraries for Raspberry Pi, Arduino and STM32 .
