The Cytron iMD16 motor driver enables control of brushed DC motors operating from 7 V to 30 V DC with a continuous current of up to 16 A (30 A peak). A rugged metal enclosure, integrated manual controls, and support for PWM/DIR signals make the unit suitable for both standalone operation and integration into industrial automation systems. Cytron iMD16
The Cytron iMD16 is designed for controlling brushed DC motors in industrial automation, conveyor systems, OEM machinery, agricultural equipment, and field-deployed applications. Its rugged metal enclosure protects the internal electronics from dust, debris, and accidental contact while also serving as a passive heatsink for efficient heat dissipation. The driver operates from 7 V to 30 V DC, delivers 16 A continuous motor current with 30 A peak capability (up to 10 seconds), and requires no cooling fan. Screw terminals provide secure connections for power and motor wiring, while JST-PH connectors simplify the installation of external control accessories.
The driver can operate as a standalone motor controller or as part of a larger automation system. A 10 kΩ potentiometer for speed adjustment and a three-position rocker switch (Forward – OFF – Reverse) are included, allowing the motor to be controlled without a microcontroller or software configuration. When connected to an external controller, the driver supports PWM and DIR control signals, making it compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PLCs, and other industrial controllers. Logic inputs accept signal levels from 3 V to 30 V, enabling direct connection to 24 V PLC outputs without additional level shifters.

The driver includes an automatic braking function that activates when the PWM signal is low, status LEDs indicating power and motor operation, and an integrated thermal management system that transfers heat from the driver to the metal enclosure. Manual mode requires no programming or configuration, allowing immediate deployment while maintaining the flexibility to upgrade to automated control whenever needed.
